Rosella Volk Ciaccio, 91, died Thursday, June 5, 2014.
A graveside memorial Mass will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Rosella was the daughter of the late Peter and Juliana Volk. She grew up in Watervliet, N.Y., and graduated from Oneonta State Teachers College and taught first grade in the Washingtonville, N.Y., School District for 25 years. In the late 1960s, she and her husband taught school in Kaiserslautern, Germany. After teaching in Washingtonville, N.Y., they retired to Southern Pines, N.C., to be closer to their family, and enjoyed golfing and a close circle of new friends.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Basil, John and Fred Volk; and a sister, Juel Lance.
She is survived by her: husband of 65 years, Thomas J. Ciaccio; daughter, Susan Hatch and husband Tim of Greenville; grandson, Jason Bizzaro and wife Missy of Charlotte; granddaughter, Krissy Vestal and husband Dennis; and great-granddaughters, Maddie and Marley Vestal, all of Greenville; sister, Mary Volk Payne; brother, Paul and wife Amy Volk, all of Scotia, N.Y.; three nieces and nephews; and four great nephews.
