AYDEN â€" Billy O’Brien Nobles Sr., 80, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at home with his wife.
The funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Nobles, son of the late David Henry and Minnie Allen Griffin Nobles, was a native of Pitt County. He was a graduate of Greenville High School and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He worked in the financial sector for many years.
Billy loved the outdoors and especially loved spending time with his family on the river and fishing with his two sons.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Joyce Nobles.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Mayo Nobles; sons, Billy O’Brien Nobles Jr. and wife Kim of Apollo Beach, Fla. and David Bruce Nobles of Greenville; granddaughter Courtney Nobles of Apollo Beach, Fla.; and brothers, Robert Glen Nobles and wife Jean of Newport News, David Henry Nobles Jr. and wife Anne of Grimesland, Herbert Carlton Nobles and wife Kent of Orlando, Fla., and Charles Ray Nobles and wife Eva of Wake Forest.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. today at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105, in memory of his daughter, Brenda Joyce Nobles.
