Mr. Charles Lindburgh "Big Charlie" Stocks, 82, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at his home.

Charles was a native and lifelong resident of Pitt County, where he attended the Pitt County Schools. For more than 40 years, he operated Big Charlies Vegetable Farm, retiring in 2000. He also was engaged in produce transportation for many years. He was a volunteer with Red Oak Community Volunteer Fire Department and member of Red Oak Christian Church.
"Big Charlie" will be fondly remembered as a warm person who genuinely loved people. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and great friend, who will be sorely missed by many.
He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Jeffrey Stocks in 2010.
He is survived by his: wife of 55 years, Frances Andrews Stocks; daughter, Connie S. Swinson and husband, Marty, of Williamston; grandchildren, Alexander McCormick, Haley Peed and Cole Davis; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sandy Smith, of Greenville, and Barbara Dail, of VA; brothers, Lynwood Stocks and Dewey Stocks, both of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Pruitt Health Hospice of Farmville for their exceptional care extended to Charles, especially by his granddaughter, Haley Peed. Special thanks also extended to the caring staff of Physicians East of Farmville, Dr. Steven Hamstead.
