James Calvin "J.C." Adams Jr., 75, of Newport, passed away at his home on August 13, 2014. He was born on May 10, 1939 in Pitt Co., to James and Evelyn Lloyd Adams. He was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother, Lloyd Adams.
J.C. retired from the U.S. Army after 24 years of service. He was stationed in Vietnam and Germany and also retired from Civil Service at Cherry Point, NC. He was a past member of the Veterans Foreign Wars, Moose Lodge and the Masonic Lodge. In his spare time, he enjoyed dancing, watching sports and was an avid fisherman.
J.C. is survived by his two children, Wade Adams and wife, Renee, of Knoxville, TN and Dawn Adams, of Winterville, NC; one brother, Milton Adams and wife, Grace, of Ayden; two sisters, Geraldine "Geri" Norris and husband, B.C., of Ayden and Brenda Butler and husband, Randy, of Greenville; three grandchildren, Tyler Adams and Ashley Henderson, of Knoxville, TN and Gunnar Morton, of Woodstock, VA; five nieces and nephews, Harold and Mike Norris, of Ayden, Brandon and Brooke Butler, of Greenville and Cristie Adams Budine, of Wilmington, NC.
A Memorial Graveside Service with military honors will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at 2:00pm in the Ayden Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Meshaw, of Grace Church, officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1-2pm at the funeral home.
