AYDEN - Heber Guy Braxton, 82, loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away early Friday morning, April 5, 2013, while at home. Known by all as Guy, he was born on Feb. 14, 1931, in Ayden and was preceded in death by his parents, Heber Warren Braxton and Sarah Olivia Dennis Braxton.

Guy served his country for 30 years in the U.S. Navy as aircraft mechanic, crew chief and had various other duties during and after the Korean War. Upon returning home, he worked as a mechanic and service manager at M&W Chevrolet, Phelps Chevrolet and Kmart. He loved fishing, hunting, reading, genealogy and research on the computer.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 22 years, Brenda Parker Braxton: his children, Robert Warren Braxton and wife, Phochjanee (Jenny) of Lynnwood, Wash., Deborah Marlene Luis and husband, David, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; grandson, John Robert Luis and wife, Emily, of Midwest City, Okla.
Guy was preceded in death by his oldest son, Kenny Guy Braxton. Kenny's surviving family include Vickie Humbles Braxton and five grandchildren to Guy: Jessica Sarah Braxton, Melissa Lynn Braxton, Alicia Mary Braxton and Aaron Wyatt Braxton, all of Pittsboro, and Katherine Elaine Wilkinson; along with a great-grandchild, Michael Blake Kirbo of Lubbock, Texas.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Farmer Funeral Chapel. Entombment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Estates. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
