Mr. Thomas G. Little Sr., 86, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mr. Little, a native of Pitt County, served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was employed with DuPont, retiring in 1985 with 30 years of service. He was a charter member of Unity Free Will Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. An avid gardener and fisherman, he enjoyed assisting his neighbors with various labor activities as they needed. A faithful husband, he cared for his wife through her illness.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Coggins Little; son Thomas G. Little Jr.; daughter in-law, Sherry Hopkins Little; two infant grandchildren; two infant great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Robert and Julius Little.
He is survived by his daughters, Terry Little Williamson and husband, Ronnie, of Asheville, and Christy Little Rains and husband, Tim, of Harkers Island; grandchildren, Matthew Little and wife, Shalina, of Grimesland, Rebekah Lilly and husband, Steve, of Asheville, Samantha Whitehurst and husband, Dan, of Greenville, Jonathan Rains and wife, Tracy, of Greenville, and Luke Rains, of Grantham; great-grandchildren, Thomas Haiden Little, AbiNoelle Lilly and Jackson Alan Rains; daughter in-law, Ann Little Bryant and husband, Jimmy, of Winterville; a sister, Helen Hopkins, of Williamston; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday from one hour prior to the service at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
