ATLANTIC BEACH - Hilton Louis Tetterton, 82, peacefully passed away at home on Friday, Oct. 25, 2013 surrounded by family. He was a long time resident of Bethel and Atlantic Beach. Hilton served as a Chaplain Assistant in Korea. When he was discharged from the Army in 1950, he immediately married his high school sweetheart, Jo Ann Crisp Tetterton of Bethel. Hilton was a past member and deacon of Bethel Baptist Church and a Charter Member and long time Deacon of Bogue Banks Baptist Church. He was active in missions work and was counted on by many. Hilton was a successful businessman working as a general contractor most of his life. He also owned and operated the Blue Marlin Motel in Atlantic Beach as well as Harbourside Storage and Marina.

Hilton and his wife Jo Ann spent their life dedicated to serving God and serving others. That was seen through the many lives they touched. Hilton was the quiet before the storm, during the storm and after the storm. He was a kind and gentle man. He loved the water and he loved to fish.
Hilton is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jo Ann Crisp Tetterton; his sons, Hilton Louis Tetterton Jr. and Michael Leamon Tetterton and wife Sharon Byrd Tetterton; six grandchildren, Josh, Jill, Leslie, Christopher, Taylor and Jordan; and eight great grandchildren, Ian, Haley, Mathis, Isaac, Violet, Rose, Finley and Laelyn.
The service will be held at noon on Monday at Bogue Banks Baptist Church. Time with the family and lunch for all attending will be served immediately following the service. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday at Bethel Cemetery in Bethel.
