Floyd Gooding Obituary

Floyd Daniel Gooding, born February 27, 1926, died June 12, surrounded by his loved ones. Mr. Gooding was a veteran of both the Army and Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. After his retirement from the U.S. Postal Service, he became a well-respected furniture refurbisher and refinisher. His wife, Doris Taylor Gooding, and his four brothers preceded Mr. Gooding in death. Surviving are his present wife, Hazel Faulkner Gooding, of Cypress Glen Retirement Community; his three children, Kay Gooding Tucker and husband, Ray of Winterville, NC, Mike Gooding and wife, Laura of Rock Hill, SC and Carol Gooding Sumrell and husband, Chris of Simpson, NC. Mr. Gooding was blessed with six grandchildren and their spouses, Erin Sumrell Beggs and Chandler of Augusta, GA, Callie Gooding Taylor and Rob of Raleigh, NC, Morgan Sumrell and Brock Sutton of Atlanta, GA, Kate Gooding of Raleigh, NC, Emily Tucker of Orlando, FL, and Michael Gooding of Greenville, NC. Mr. Gooding was also anticipating the birth of his first great-grandchild in November. Honorably, Mr. Gooding donated his remains to the East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Cypress Glen Benevolent Fund, 100 Hickory Street, Greenville, NC 27858. There will be a private memorial service for his family.
