Sidney Worth Hardee

Sidney Worth Hardee, 62, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice Center. A graveside service will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery.
Sidney, son of the late Worth and Elizabeth Reid Hardee, was a lifelong resident of Pitt County and a 1970 graduate of JH Rose High School. He retired from NAACO as a supervisor after his health declined. Sidney, an avid outdoorsman, loved to fish and hunt. He enjoyed going to NASCAR races, watching college basketball, especially the Duke Blue Devils, gardening, and spending time with his family. He was also a member of University Church of God.
He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Hope Tripp Hardee; son, Michael Sermons and wife, Carey, of Farmville; daughter, Brandy Hill of LaGrange; four grandchildren, Micah, Cameron, and Summer Sermons, and Lena Zurface; aunts, Thelma Hardee Whitehurst and husband, Marshall, of Greenville and Ann Reid Wilson of Ayden; uncles, James Lewis Hardee and wife, Marie, of Greenville and Robert E. Reid and wife, Peggy, of Sandston, Va.; and many cousins and extended family.
The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 8 at Smith Funeral Service.
