Jack Peck Obituary

Thomaston – Mr. Jack Burton Peck, 83, of Thomaston, died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the VITAS Innovative Care Unit at St. Mary's Hospital. He was the husband of Mrs. Barbara (Swasey) Peck.

Jack was born on July 7, 1929 in Poughkeepsie, NY., son of the late John Cousins and Ermie (Burton) Peck. Jack was a graduate of Oliver Wolcott Technical School and the Housatonic Valley Regional High School. After High School, Jack served honorable in the United States Marine Corps reaching the rank of Sergeant during the Korean War where he was awarded the Purple Heart. Very proud of his military background, he was a lifetime member of the Marine Corps League Northwest Detachment, the Marine Devil Dogs, The American Legion Post 22, Thomaston, and the Connecticut and National Korean War Veterans Association. Jack was also a 51 year member of the Montgomery Masonic Lodge No: 13 in Lakeville, CT. He retired from the SNET Company in 1987 after 33 years as a Lineman and Repair test man. Jack had a love for NASCAR at Lime Rock Park and camping with all his children, close friends, the girl scouts, and boy scouts.

Besides his wife, Jack leaves behind his five children, John Peck, of Grand Junction, CO., Susan Gandelli, of Canaan, CT., Barbara Peck, of Millerton, NY., Jacqueline Moody, of Barkhamsted, CT., and Brian Peck, of Thomaston, CT.; five grandchildren, Marijane Stackon, of Fort Collins, CO., Colleen MacMillian, of Sharon, CT., Aubrey Peck, of Grand Junction, CO., Devon Peck, of Craig, CO., and Shawn Healy, of Millerton, NY.; eight great grandchildren, Augustus, Joanna, Autumn, Kyle, Kaya, Antonio, Lilian, and Nathan; and two sisters, Jacqueline Liverman, of Portsmouth, VA., and Cynthia Ashburn, of Wappinger's Fall, NY.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday evening, April 19, at 7:00 P.M., at the Lyons Funeral Home, 46 High St., Thomaston. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5:00 P.M to 8:00 P.M. Burial will be held on Saturday, April 20 at 11:00 A.M. at Salisbury Cemetery, Route 41 North, Undermountain Rd., Salisbury, CT. Family and friends are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are asked to be made in Jack's name to the Marine Corps League – Northwest Detachment, C/O Nick Gandolfa, 25 Locust Hill, East Canaan 06024 or the Thomaston Volunteer Ambulance Corp., 237 South Main St., Thomaston, CT 06787.
