Mary A. Romaniello, 81, of Torrington passed away Thursday, May 2, at Hartford Hospital. She was the wife of 64 years of Nicholas Romaniello Sr. Born in East Machias, Maine daughter of Madeline (Scott) Flood, of East Machias, Maine and the late Eugene Gardner, she was self -employed as a beautician, operating Mar-Rom Beauty Salon in Torrington for over 50 years. She was a Communicant of Saint Peter Church and was a member and Past President of The Holy Name Society. An avid golfer and bowler, she was active at Sky Top Lanes for over 40 years, and was a member of Eastwoods Country Club. She enjoyed UCONN Women's basketball and was a Yankees fan as well as devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
In addition to her husband and mother, she leaves a son, Nicholas Romaniello Jr. and his wife Valerie of Sarasota, Florida and their children Jared, Alexa, and Olivia; and three daughters, Donata Reeve and husband Peter of Burlington and children Steven Audia and Jennifer-Lyn Audia; Gloria Romaniello-Milo and husband Buddy and children Michael and Nicole Milo-Cook; Nancy Beck and husband Richard Beck Jr and children Christopher and Stefanie, all of Torrington and great grandchildren Caleb, Gina, and Brody. She also leaves a brother Clinton Gardner of East Machias and sister Norma Cammarata of Ocala FL. She was predeceased by sisters Edna Tucceri, Ida Saviano, and brother Fred Gardner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Peter Church, Torrington, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7 with burial following at Saint Peter Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 9 to 10 a.m. at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington CT 06790.

Mary was such a thoughtful amazing woman. So kind to our dad & mom when he was sick & she lonely and needing a friend to talk to.
