CAVACIUTI, JAMES "JACK"* - Falls Village  
CAVACIUTI, JAMES “JACK” James “Jack”Cavaciuti, 67, of Falls Village, CT, passed away Wednesday, May 27th, at his home surrounded by his loving family following a short battle with cancer. He was the husband of Maureen Passini Cavaciuti. He was born in Morfaso, Italy on July 15, 1947, a son of the late Maria (Guarnieri) and John Cavaciuti and came to this area in 1955. He served in the US Army during Viet Nam 25th Infantry Division. He was employed by the City of Torrington Street Department until his retirement 7 years ago. He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed golf, fishing, riding his Harley and spending time with family and friends, and his dog, Harley. He also enjoyed traveling with Housatonic Valley Regional High Travel Club. In addition to his wife, he leaves daughters, Helen C. Lee and husband Brandon of Burlington, and Lisa C. Dennis and husband Chris of Falls Village, his brother John Cavaciuti of Torrington, aunt Gina Rapacioli and uncle Joseph Guarnieri, sister-in-law Nancy Lohmann, nieces and nephews, Jamie Cavaciuti, Dawn Trauskauskas, Katherine Ruszczyk, and Ann Marie Tremblay and their families, and many great nieces and nephews, friends and family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday May 30 at 11:00 AM at Saint Joseph Church in Canaan. CISCO, HELEN D. Helen D. Cisco, 92, of Torrington, Conn, died peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2015, at Valerie Manor in Torrington. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Olga (Peterson) DeMichiel. Born in Torrington on May 3, 1923, Helen attended local schools including Torrington High School. She was employed in her early years at Fitzgerald Manufacturing, Inc., in Torrington, then at PTC Aerospace, Inc., in Bantam, Conn, for 18 years until her retirement in 1992. In her younger years Helen’s interests were many as she enjoyed ballroom dancing, roller skating, ice skating, swimming, water skiing, and snow skiing. A bowling enthusiast, she was a member of a local duckpin league. In later years, she enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Helen is survived by her children, Beverly Kennedy, of New Hartford, Conn.; Lorraine Adelberg and her husband, Steven, of Bullhead City, Ariz.; and Karen Schuttler and her husband, Walter, of Seymour, Conn. She also leaves five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Helen is predeceased by her son, Daniel F. Cisco; her sister, Elizabeth Viarengo; and her former husband, Frederick O. Cisco. Family and friends may call on Saturday, May 30, at 9 a.m. at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Avenue, Torrington. A memorial service will be held on that day at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial immediately following at Hillside Cemetery in Torrington. Memorial contributions in Helen’s name may be made to Valerie Manor Recreation, 1360 Torringford Street, Torrington, CT 06790; or to Hospice at Home, 65 Commercial Boulevard, Torrington, CT 06790. COOPER, KEVIN CHARLES* - Winsted  
COOPER, KEVIN CHARLES Kevin Charles Cooper passed away on May 25, 2015. Born November 1, 1964; the son of Frances and Charles Cooper of Winsted. He graduated from Oliver Wolcott Technical School and then Technical Careers Institute. Kevin was a former Instructor at Oliver Wolcott Technical School and later the Electronics Dept. Head at Henry Abbott Tech School in Danbury. In addition to his parents, he is survived by an aunt, Esther Rebillard of Torrington; an uncle, John Fratini and wife Beverly of Winsted; and many cousins. There will be no calling hours. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Winchester Center Congregational Church in Winchester Center at 1PM. HAWLEY Jr., PAUL H.* - Surfside Beach  
HAWLEY, PAUL H., JR. Paul H. Hawley, Jr., age 90 beloved husband of the late Anne H. Hawley, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, May 23, 2015. Mr. Hawley was born September 12, 1924 in Torrington, CT., the son of the late Paul H. Hawley Sr. and Hildreth Keeler Hawley. He was also the stepson of the late Gladys P. Hawley. Paul served in the U.S. Navy (Lt) as a blimp “Lighter than Air” navigator/pilot during WWII, covering convoys from Key West FL. to Brazil. After his service he attended and graduated from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Civil Engineering, working in construction for most of his life, eventually becoming Executive Vice President of Bartlett, Brainard & Eacott until his retirement in 1989. He was also a mediator for CT Laborers and Carpenters Pension Funds. During his lifetime, he was active in his Church, in Scouting, achieving the Silver Beaver award, president of the Community Chest (United Way of Northwest CT), A Red Cross volunteer, and a devoted and dedicated member of the VFW Post 10420 in Murrells Inlet, SC. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, tennis, Bridge and Cribbage. His passion was his work on his computer whether it be family and friends’ genealogies, VFW and HOA record keeping and bookkeeping, or his favorite pastimes “Solitaire” and “Sudoku”. Whenever it snowed in CT, Dad would declare “Party Time!” He and Mom really enjoyed traveling, dancing and hosting some of the most wonderful “Parties”. His family will cherish the great memories of the life that we celebrated with him. Love you Dad. Paul is survived by his son, Paul H. Hawley III and his wife Cindy of Berlin, CT., and his daughters Susan Anne Novak and her husband John R. III of Surfside Beach and Patricia Lee Marciano and her husband Charles L. of Torrington, CT; sister, Mary H. Eller of Torrington, CT; five grandchildren, John Novak IV and wife Kristin, Christopher Novak, LeeAnne Marciano, Martha Anne Noonan and husband Brendan, and Philip Hawley and friend Nicole Gagnon, and 4 great grandchildren, John R. V, Amelia Joan, and Katelyn Elizabeth Novak, and Declan Hawley Noonan. The family would like to extend a special thank you to his caregivers: Bobby Leahy, Judy Reynolds, and Martina “Andie” Seifert. There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held on July 1, 2015 at 2:00 PM at the Goldfinch Funeral Home, 11528 Highway 17 Bypass Murrells Inlet, SC. LAVOIE, DIANE DUPUIS* - Pompano Beach  
LAVOIE, DIANE (DUPUIS) Diane (Dupuis) Lavoie, 66, of Pompano Beach, Florida, formerly of Bristol, Connecticut passed away May 26, 2015. She was the wife of Robert E. Lavoie. Diane was born on June 7, 1948 in Lac Mecgantic, Qu├ębec Canada, the daughter of the late Alcide and Laurette (Vielleax) Dupuis. She moved to Florida in 2009 where she really enjoyed her new home on the canal and the great weather along with the good friends that she had the pleasure of meeting in the short time she lived there. Diane was a secretary in the admitting department and the emergency room at Bristol Hospital until she retired. Besides her husband Robert, she is survived by two sons, Rob and his wife Sue (Zaleski) Lavoie of Harwinton, CT and Christopher Lavoie of Middletown CT. Grandchildren, Tyler, Brandon and Jude Lavoie of Harwinton and Hailey and Payton of Middletown Who Diane love with all her heart and was so proud of them all, she also leaves many cousins and her Aunt Georgette Arena of Florida and her Uncle Hercules Dupuis of Canada and a special cousin Ginette Poirier of Florida Memorial service and burial will be at the convenience of the family. BASSO, ANTHONY J. "TONY"* - Torrington  
BASSO, ANTHONY J. “TONY” Anthony J. “Tony” Basso, 88, of Torrington, Connecticut, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Dora (Cattero) Basso for 64 years. Tony was born March 20, 1927, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Bartholomew “Barney” and Katherine (Sabia) Basso. He served his country with the US Navy during World War II. Upon his honorable discharge in April of 1946, he was awarded the American Area Campaign Ribbon and the WWII Victory Ribbon. A graduate of UCONN, he was the Administrator for local highway and bridge design employed as a Professional Civil Engineer by the State of Connecticut until his retirement. Tony was a member of the Elk’s #372, the V.F.W., Sullivan’s Senior Center, and was a communicant of St. Peter Church. He enjoyed his Rhode Island home, the beach, fishing, UCONN Basketball, and spending time with his family, especially his grandson. In addition to his wife Dora, he is survived by two sons, Anthony Basso, II, and his wife Amy of Wolcott, Mark Basso of Torrington; one daughter, Doreen Brenner of Torrington, and his grandson, Matthew Brenner. He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, David Brenner. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St. Torrington to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St. Torrington for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery with full military honors accorded. Relatives and friends may call on Friday morning, May 22nd from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home. JASMIN, JANICE EVELYN* - Torrington  
JASMIN, JANICE EVELYN Winsted: Janice Evelyn Jasmin, 77, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015, at Litchfield Woods Health Care Center in Torrington. She was the wife of the late Charles Jasmin who died in 2004. Born in Winsted, July 31, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Dominic “Nonnie” and Evelyn (Fitzgerald) Bruno, and had lived here all of her life. Prior to her retirement, she and her husband Charlie had managed the family grocery store, (Bruno’s Market) until it closed, and she also managed the “Knit Shop” with her mother. Janice will always be remembered for performing acts of kindness for anyone who became part of her life. She had knitted hundreds of hats for the homeless and for children for many years which were donated to several organizations for those in need. She especially loved to feed people and willingly shared her recipes. Her unconditional love made her the maternal sister to her siblings. Family and friends will forever cherish her love, generosity and the precious sweaters, mittens, scarves and hats she gave us. Jan and Charlie were also known for delivering meals and cookies to shut-ins at the holidays. She was a graduate of The Gilbert School, class of 1955 and was a devout parishioner of St. Joseph Church. Her survivors include her only son, Charles (Chuck) Jasmin of Winsted; two brothers, Dominic F. (Ilona) Bruno, Joseph (Sandy) Bruno, all of FL; three sisters, Doreen (Allan) Risedorf, Ruthann (Paul) Horvay all of Winsted, Roseann Reynolds, her husband Anthony Barber of Guilford; an aunt, Helen Simmons of Winsted; sisters-in-law, Marie Kostak, Catherine Doty; brothers-in-law, Butch (Sandy) Jasmin, Chick Jasmin and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Patty Bruno. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 26, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church. Burial will follow in Forest View Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church or to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, 18 North Main Street, West Hartford, CT 06107.
