REIS, BARBARA THRALL* - Torrington  
REIS, BARBARA THRALL Barbara Thrall Reis, 94, passed away on July 28, 2015 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington. She was the wife of the late Joseph Reis. Barbara was born on October 1, 1920 in Torrington to the late Albert R. and May (Crowe) Thrall. Mrs. Reis retired from Fitzgerald Manufacturing after 44 years. She was a big sports fan; an avid bowler and enjoyed attending the young men’s softball league games at Perkin’s Field. She loved playing 9-5 with family and friends and enjoyed trips to the casinos. Barbara is survived by a brother John H. Thrall of Harwinton and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters and one brother. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Harwinton Congregational Church, Book of Remembrance, P.O. Box 173, Harwinton, CT 06791. A memorial service will be held on August 22, 2015 at 10:00am at Harwinton Congregational Church, at the corner of North Rd. and Litchfield Rd. Burial will be private. RICHARDS, RENE G.* - Torrington  
RICHARDS, RENE G. Rene G. Richards, 81, of Torrington, CT, passed away Monday, July 20th at home. He was the husband of the late Joan Kelley Richards. Rene was born in Torrington, CT on May 15, 1934, son of the late Simone (Lepers) and Rene Richards, and served in the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. He was a Police Officer in Torrington and later operated Rene’s Foreign Auto Repair in Torrington. He was later employed as service manager and salesman for several Volkswagen Dealers, retiring from Crowley Volkswagen. He also owned Rene’s Custom Carpentry for several years. He was a member of Amvets and the American Legion and served in the Military Final Honors Squad. He was a past member of the Blue Knights. Rene is survived by four daughters, Debra Thomas and husband Edward of Torrington; Diane Boutin and husband Antoni Piotrowicz of Marlborough; Renee Chipman and husband Richard (Chip) Chipman of Bristol; and Joan Simone and husband Joe of Torrington; and a son, Daniel Richards and wife, Debi of Goshen and also survived by 19 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Rene is also survived by a sister, Doris Eaves of Valrico, FL; and his loving companion, Rhoda Connolly of Torrington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Francis Church, Torrington, CT at 10:30 on Tuesday, August 4th, with burial following at Saint Peter Cemetery. Friends may call Monday Aug. 3, 6-8 PM at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington.
