ALTIERI, LAWRENCE* - Torrington  
ALTIERI, LAWRENCE P. “LARRY” Lawrence P. Altieri “Larry”, 89, of Torrington, husband of Alice (Famiglietti) Altieri, passed away December 11, 2014 surrounded by his family at Charlotte Hungerford hospital. Born September 23, 1925 in Foggia, Italy, Larry was the son of Leonardo and Concetta Campanaro Altieri and one of 8 children. Larry came to the United States at the age of 3. He attended Waterbury schools and served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. After his discharge he graduated from the Culinary Institute in New Haven, CT in 1946. He worked as a chef in several establishments, including The Green Dolphin, Larsons, and The Waverly Inn to name a few. He and his wife owned and operated The New Bantam Inn in Bantam, CT from 1973 until 1985. He accepted a chef’s position at Torrington Extend A Care and retired in 1999. Larry enjoyed fishing, gardening, and most of all making wine for his family and friends to enjoy. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice, daughters Pamela Cole and Dr. Lauren Altieri, son Jeffrey and his wife Sandy. He is also survived by one sister Mary Rinehart, two grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Larry is predeceased by brothers Nicholas, Valentino, Costanzo, Anthony, Domenic, and sister Ruth. A graveside service will be held at the State Veterans cemetery in Middletown, CT with military honors, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers you may make a contribution to the charity of your choice. Arrangements are being handled by Brooklawn Funeral Home in Rocky Hill, CT.

BRUNELLE, HENRY* - West Hartland  
BRUNELLE, HENRY J. BRUNELLE – Henry J. Brunelle, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 25, 2014, surrounded by his family in his West Hartland home. Henry was the loving husband of Maureen (Fitzgerald) Brunelle for 36 years. He was born October 24, 1953 in Torrington, CT; the son of the late Leonard and Eva (LaBrie) Brunelle. Henry faithfully attended Faith Bible Church in Winsted. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Matthew Brunelle and wife Jessica of East Granby and Mark Brunelle of West Hartland; a daughter, Jessica McFarlane and husband Daniel of Canton; a brother, Raymond Brunelle and wife Debbie of Torrington; and two grandchildren, Brock and Dilan. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Faith Bible Church, 368 Main Street, Winsted at 4 PM. Burial will be private. DEANGELO, JEAN* - Torrington  
DEANGELO, JEAN M. Jean M. DeAngelo, 84, of Torrington, died peacefully at home on December 24, 2014, with her daughters by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Weed M. DeAngelo, to whom she had been married to for 61 years. Mrs. DeAngelo was born in Torrington on May 18, 1930, daughter of the late Henry and Agnes (Wade) Spiegelhalter. She was a graduate of St. Francis School and Torrington High School. Family being Jean’s priority, she chose to stay at home to raise her children until they were of high school age, at which time she re-entered the workforce. She was employed by the Torin/Nidec Corporation until their closure. She also worked in the Litchfield Public Schools in the school lunch program until her retirement. Mrs. DeAngelo most enjoyed her time spent with her extended family; always looking forward to going out for her weekly lunch with her daughter Audrey and niece Cathy. She loved when Jillian or Jarred would just “pop in” to see her, they always brightened her day. She was a true sports enthusiast, following both the UCONN men and women and was a diehard Red Sox fan. She enjoyed her weekly card games with the family, was an avid reader, duckpin bowler and loved baking and cooking for her family. She was a communicant of St. Francis Church. She is survived by her daughters, Joyce DeAngelo, Audrey and her husband Thomas Lukens, all of Torrington; her “adopted” grandchildren, Jillian and Jarred Kilmer, Emily and Nathan Kupcho, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her three brothers, Wilfred, Edward and Henry Spiegelhalter. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014, with the cortege leaving at 11:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington to St. Francis Church, 160 Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home. LATAIF, FREDERICK F.* - Torrington  
LATAIF, FREDERICK, F. Frederick “Fred” F. Lataif, 78, of Torrington, CT, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Carol (Clark) Lataif, who preceded him in death on August 31, 2013. Fred was born October 18, 1936, in Winsted, CT, son of the late Frederick and Frances (Joseph) Lataif. He served his country with the US Army. He was employed by Hitchcock Chair Company making fine wooden furniture for many years. After his retirement from Hitchcock Chair, he was employed by the Torrington Park and Recreation Department as a Supervisor at the Armory. A member of Greenwoods Country Club for most of his life, he also served on the Board of Directors for many years. He was a member of the Lebanon American Club, and was very active with St. Maron’s Church where he was a faithful volunteer with Bingo. He is survived by one son, Fred G. Lataif and one daughter, Lori Richnavsky and her husband Robert all of Torrington; one sister, Lorraine Meyer and her husband Bob of Torrington; two grandchildren, Robert Richnavsky and his wife Tori, Kristen Rizzi and her husband Tony; one great granddaughter, Eva Richnavsky, as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends. In addition to his wife, Carol, he was preceded in death by a son, Scott J. Lataif and a brother, Donald Lataif. The Divine Liturgy of Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, December 26, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 85 Pulaski St., Torrington. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. LOVALLO, JOSEPH* - Torrington  
LOVALLO, JOSEPH Joseph Lovallo, 92, of Torrington, CT, passed away Monday, December 22, 2014, at Valerie Manor. He was the beloved husband of Frances (Toro) Lovallo for 65 years. Joseph was born June 25, 1922, in Torrington, CT, son of the late Leonardo and Marie (Genovese) Lovallo. He served his country with the US Army during World War II, enlisting during February of 1943, and honorably discharged during February of 1946. Among the awards and decorations he received during his Honorable Discharge were the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon, and the Victory Medal. He was employed by Stella Doro Biscuit Company for 40 years, until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of the Concordia Lodge #20, the Sullivan Senior Center, St. Peter Holy Name Society, and was a lifelong communicant of St. Peter Church. In addition to his devoted wife, Frances, he is survived by one daughter, Jo-Anne and son-in-law Alan Gauger of Torrington; two grandchildren, Nicole and her husband Brian Dulak of New Hartford, Wesley Gauger of Torrington; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Zachary Dulak, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Vincent Lovallo. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery with full military honors accorded. NERI, ELIZABETH A. “BETTY” Torrington- Elizabeth A. “Betty” Neri, 88, of Queens Rd., died Friday, December 26, 2014, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late Americo “Ted” Neri. Mrs. Neri was born in Torrington on June 11, 1926, daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Koval) Tomala and had been a lifelong Torrington resident. She was an active lifelong communicant of Sacred Heart Church, serving as a trustee of the Church, a member of the Altar Society, choir, and volunteer at many Church functions. Betty was a member of Yednota, a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, a volunteer at the Warner Theater, and a member of the Yankee Chorale Choir. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. Survivors include three sons; Philip J. Neri and his wife, Helen Tyczenski of Hopkinton, Massachusetts, Mark D. Neri and his wife, Karen, and Barry F. Neri, all of Torrington, a sister, Mary T. Tomala of Torrington, two granddaughters; Kristen Neri and Jessica Neri, two step granddaughters; Kelsey Pollutro and Kyla Pollutro, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held TUESDAY, December 30, 2014 at 9:30a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington to Sacred Heart Church, 116 Grove St., Torrington for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30a.m. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. PATCH, CATHERINE “RENA” (VERONESE) PATCH – Catherine “Rena” (Veronesi) Patch, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014, surrounded by her loving family. Catherine was born on September 29, 1925 in Sandisfield, MA; to Richard and Maude (Bull) Veronesi. She was predeceased by her devoted husband of 41 years, Louis Patch who died in March of 1985. Catherine grew up in Winsted and attended the Gilbert School. She retired from Fairchild Automated Parts in 1995. She is survived by her children; Shandra (Jimmy) Peck, Lucie (Louie) Martocchio, Richard (Betty) Patch, Paul (Barbara) Patch and Grace (Fernando) Kelly; 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Catherine was pre-deceased by her siblings; Lucy, Richard, Dominic, Louis and Stephen. ROSS, ALFRED EMIL* - Torrington  
ROSS, ALFRED EMIL Alfred Emil (Lefty) Ross, 88 of Torrington passed away on December 22,2014 after a long illness. Born on June 3, 1926 in Torrington, he was the son of the late John and Helen Sedlack Ross. He was a resident of Southington for 30 years until moving back to Torrington in 2014. Even as a young boy he had a tremendous work ethic, starting a shoeshine business along with his brothers. He worked at Roma Importing, Fitzgerald Manufacturing and later was the owner of Maiden Lane Dry Cleaners in Torrington. He was an outstanding salesman at several auto dealerships. He later worked with his wife Mary at As U Like It Cleaners in Southington, retiring with her in 2012. He was an avid Yankees fan, enjoyed golfing, going to the casino and traveling. He served in WWII in France and Germany in the infantry as a pioneer, cook and later as a guard at the Nuremberg Trials. He was the husband of the late Mary Dudzik Ross of Southington and was predeceased by brothers, Frank, Charles, John and Steven and Arthur. He is survived by Alan Ross, his son with his late former wife Shirley Downs Ross and his daughter-in-law Jean Kincaid-Ross of Torrington, brother Howard (Bill) Ross and his wife Gretchen of Winsted, dear friend Gloria Newth and many nieces and nephews. ROY, DONALD J. Donald J. Roy, 85, formerly of E. Elm Street, died Monday, December 22, 2014 at Litchfield Woods Healthcare Center, Torrington. He was the beloved husband of the late Marie (Vrabec) Roy. Mr. Roy was born in Torrington on November 7, 1929, son of the late Louis and Bertha (Courchaine) Roy, and was a lifelong city resident. He was a U.S. Army Korean Conflict Veteran and the retired proprietor of Louis J. Roy Garage in Torrington, where he worked for forty-eight years. Mr. Roy was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, a member of the New Hartford Historical Society, the French Canadian Genealogy Society, and the Tucker Automobile Club, which was one of his great passions. Survivors include a daughter, Lynn M. Roy of Wilbraham, Massachusetts, a son, Thomas G. Roy of Cypress, Texas, two grandchildren; Brian Roy and Kathryn Roy, a sister-in-law, Dorothea Roy of Southington, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Helen and Roy Gendreau of Farmington, several nieces and nephews, and a special devoted friend, Judy Lucey of Torrington. Mr. Roy was predeceased by a brother, Robert Roy. SMEDICK, EILEEN CLAIRE Eileen Claire Smedick, 78, of Torrington died Dec. 20, 2014 after a long illness. Born in Torrington Aug. 30, 1936 daughter of the late Clarence and Mary Delmonte Smedick, she was a lifelong resident of Torrington and a graduate of Torrington High Class of 1954. She worked for the Torrington Register Newspaper for over 40 years. She is survived by her brother Richard Smedick and Lisa Paradis, niece Sarah Smedick, sister in law Beth Smedick, all of Southington, CT nephew Kyle Smedick and wife Phillipa and great niece Nieve Smedick and great -nephew Seth Smedick of New Zealand.
