Angela Cavagnero

CAVAGNERO, ANGELA Angela Cavagnero, formerly of Torrington, passed away on April 14, 2014, in Sacramento, CA, where she had been living with her son Vincent and his wife Helen. Angie, as she was known to her friends, was born in Torrington on March 11, 1925, to Giacomo and Lea (nee Trivella) Celadon. She leaves behind her brother Robert and sister-in-law Ruby; sister-in-law Hilda Cavagnero; five sons, Vincent, Richard, Alfred Jr., Michael, and John; daughters-in-law Helen, Nancy, Judy, and Ana; four grandchildren, Gina, Tessa, Courtney, and Kellen; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alfred, brothers Deiro and Jack, and sisters Zeira and Norma. Angela attended local schools, worked as a seamstress, and raised her family, which was most important to her. She was a long time parishioner of Saint Peter’s Church. Angela was close to her extended Celadon family and to the extended Cavagnero clan throughout her life and took great joy in celebrating with them. She loved music and dancing, cooking, reading, and crossword puzzles, but her greatest passions were golf and playing cards. Her husband Al taught her to golf in her early fifties and she was beating him within a few years. She played in a league at Eastwoods Country Club where she excelled and once scored a hole in one and continued playing into her eighties. There were no gimmes or mulligans with Angie, much to the dismay of some of her sons. She played Pinochle, Gin, and Nine-Five all her life with friends, family, at the Sullivan Senior Center, and at similar centers in Florida and California after she left Torrington. Services are private. Memorial Contributions can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
