Winsted - David Karl Bergmann Sr., passed away on December 24th after a short battle with cancer and complications. Born November 26, 1954 in New York, son of Pauline Bergmann of Winsted, CT and the late Karl S. Bergmann. David attended local Winsted schools and the Gilbert School. David served in the USAF during the Vietnam era, serving most his time in Oklahoma. He and his wife Gina (Gelzinis) Bergmann moved back to CT in 1976. David worked at Ovation Instruments, Hitchcock chair, and Kingsland Co. Sterling Sintered Technologies. David was very involved in scouting while his children were growing up serving as Scout Master for Troop 27 for many years. He especially enjoyed going on camporees with his scouts and teaching them many different things. His hobbies included woodworking, refurbishing old furniture, fishing, and relaxing at home with his children and grandchildren.
David is survived by his mother, Pauline; his wife of 39 years, Gina; his children, David K Bergmann Jr., and wife Alison of Winsted, Chief Petty Officer Robert Bergmann stationed in Virginia and his wife Kristie, Jennifer Bergmann and Brian Bergmann, both of Winsted; his grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary, Matthew Bergmann and Nicole Deraleau of Winsted and his Godson, Justin Bergmann. David is also survived by many cousins and an Uncle.
David always had some great stories to tell. He will be missed dearly by his family and anyone who has had the pleasure to known him.
