Davy Crossman

CROSSMAN, DAVY ARTHUR Davy Arthur Crossman, son of the late Harold “Hap” Crossman and the late Catherine “Cae” Crossman, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born March 5, 1945, in Winsted, where he lived his entire life. He was the beloved husband of Cheryl Ann (Iwanicki) Crossman for 22 years. He was predeceased by his loving nephew, Richard “Buff” Crossman; sister-in-law, Judith Crossman; and his cherished dog, Buddy. He served his country as a Combat Sergeant during the Vietnam War in the 196th Army Infantry. He retired from the Street Department for the Town of Winchester in 2007, where he worked since 1983. Besides his wife, Cheryl, he is also survived by his two sons, Darren and Bryan Crossman and his wife Rebecca; two daughters, Sarah and Nicole Crossman, all of Winsted; beloved granddaughter, Hannah Jasmine Crossman; three brothers, John Crossman and his wife Maria, Donald “Grump” Crossman and his wife Nancy and Clifford “Kippy” Crossman; a sister, Sally “Pinky” Mangione and her husband George; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Davy’s passions were spending time with family and fishing in Nags Head, NC. He was an avid Texas Rangers fan and enjoyed watching his daughter Sarah’s tennis matches and daughter Nicole’s soccer games. He was a member of the VFW Post #296 in Winsted. His generosity was reflected in the many ways he was always there to lend a helping hand to friends and family as well as his hilarious sense of humor. Cheryl and her family would like to thank the loving staff of the Center for Cancer Care and the Foothills Visiting Nurses. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 25, 2014, at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 5 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 26, 2014, at the United Methodist Church, Winsted, at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Forest View Cemetery, Winsted, with full Military Honors.
