Harriet B. Hamilton(1917 - 2013)

LITCHFIELD >> Harriet B. Hamilton, 96, of Constitution Way died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2013 at Brandywine Assisted Living. She was the wife of the late Charles A. Hamilton. Mrs. Hamilton was born in South Deerfield, Massachusetts on July 10, 1917, daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Amelia (Williams) Bridges and was an area resident for over 60 years.
She had been an active member at Trinity Episcopal Church, Torrington for many years and was a member of the Altar Guild at the church. Earlier in life she had enjoyed a career in radio. Her career began with the radio personality of "Betty Brewster" for the Wilson's Department Store in Greenfield, Massachusetts. In the 1950's she hosted a local morning talk radio program known as "At Home With the Hamiltons." Harriet was a former member of the Torrington Women's Club, was an avid flower gardener, and loved animals of all kinds.
She is survived by her son Mark B. Hamilton and his wife Susan of Harwinton; three grandchildren, Jonathan Manchester, Amy Manchester-Woodilla and her husband Scott, and Benjamin Manchester, all of Harwinton: a son-in-saw, Russell Manchester of Minnesota; and several cousins.
She was predeceased by her daughter Holly Manchester.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 220 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington is in care of arrangements.
