TORRINGTON >> Hazel V. Wadhams, 88, of Torrington, passed away May 7, 2013 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. Hazel was born in Torrington, on Oct. 28, 1924, a daughter of the late Elizabeth (Wilcox) and James Wadhams.
She was a homemaker and caregiver to her parents until their death, and later worked as a housekeeper and cook at Workman Apartments. She also did child care for the Stevens and Millette families. She was involved with Girl Scouts for 55 years both Junior and Cadets, and was a 74 year member of First Congregational Church and was active with their Sunday School and Choir. She was also a member of Church Women's United.
Hazel is survived by a sister, Sylvia Wadhams, of Torrington; four nephews and three nieces, many great and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, James G., Arthur C., Richard S. Sr. and Ray F. Wadhams.
A Memorial service will be held later in June at First Congregational Church in Torrington officiated by Revs. Steven Darr and Kimberly Wadhams.
