Isabelle A. Albrecht(1922 - 2012)

TORRINGTON - Mrs. Isabelle (Theibault) A. Albrecht, 90, of Torrington, passed away April 8, 2012 in peace at her home, surrounded by loving family members. She was born in Beecher Falls, New Hampshire on Jan. 9 1922, the daughter of Omer and Mary (Bouchard) Theibault.
Mrs. Albrecht, who like to be called 'Liz'. worked in the area for many years. She retired from Waring Products in New Hartford and since then has led a full and productive retirement. On July 1, 1942, she married Donald Albrecht in Hartford. They moved to Torrington in 1964 with their children. Two great sorrows in her life were the untimely deaths of two of her children - her daughter Marie and her son Donald.
Liz spent her life caring for people - her children, sister, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren and friends at Laurel Acres, and often others in need. She loved many things by highest on her list was her family. Her most important achievement was teaching her children to be strong independent thinkers. She was an accomplished, self-taught artist, poet, and gardener in her own little plot near her apartment, where she grew flowers and vegetables. She did amazing needlepoint work that was admired by many. She loved to read and often swapped books with anyone who had a book that she hadn't read yet.
She is survived by her children, Edward Albrecht and his wife Christine of Cheshire; Rick Albrecht and his wife Jo-Ann of Torrington; Wayne Albrecht and his wife Roberta of Torrington; Cindy Olsen and her companion Gary Dellaghelfa of Torrington; Liz Carbone and her husband Mike of Goshen; and Nancy Horvath of Brookfield and her fiance Bob Burke of Salem; and also thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Her husband, Donald Albrecht, her daughter, Marie Albrecht, her son, Donald R. Albrecht, and her sister, Loretta Goodreau of Millbury, Mass and Joe Olsen of Torrington predeceased her.
We thank all of our family and friends for the great warmth, love and support expressed in so many ways these past months. We also thank the staff at Hospice At Home of Torrington for their professional and compassionate services.
Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, April 10, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, Liz has asked that donations be sent to Hospice At Home, 62 Commercial Blvd., Torrington, CT 06790. Condolences may be sent to the Albrecht family by visiting www.cookfuneralhomect.com
