Joan A. Platen

PLATEN, JOAN A. Joan A. Platen, 89, of New Litchfield St., died Sunday, February 2, 2014 in her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Chester Kowalski and Harry Kleckner. Joan was born in Waterbury, on February 1, 1925, daughter of the late John and Bertha (Lofblad) Platen and had been a Torrington resident for the past 86 years. She was a retired co-proprietor of thirty-three years of Steve’s Package Store in Bristol. Joan was an avid sewer, knitter, painter, and had a great love for animals. Survivors include a niece, Catherine Mueller of Wescosville, PA, a nephew Juan Platen of Windsor, and grand-nieces Sarah Wimmer and Emily Mueller, and Joan’s beloved cat, Mittsie. A memorial service will be held in the spring time. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
