SARASOTA, FLORIDA >> Marybeth Dunning of Sarasota, Florida, born June 16, 1928, died on Sept. 25, 2013. Marybeth Dunning loved life. She did not have a drop of negativity – except for the MRI. There were four periods of hospital stay since the middle of August which were made easier by caring Oakhurst neighbors. She was more interested in asking the nurse or technician about his or her family than in making any complaint.
Marybeth taught English and reading for 30 years in New Milford, and never took a sick day. She also never wanted to stop learning. She joined the world of computer use to stay connected when her son was a Navy officer in Iraq. A major source of enrichment here in Sarasota was the James Joyce Society as well as local venues with her best friend from college. Her daughter will follow her determined footsteps by volunteering at Resurrection House. Her true devotion was to the Church. Prayer was the only medicine Marybeth knew and she offered it to all.
Marybeth was predeceased by her brothers Maurice and John. She leaves her sister, Anne Flannery of Farmington; her son Harry, his wife Arlene, grandchildren Megan and Michael of Woodbridge, Virginia, her daughter and grandson John Paul Selwyn of Philadelphia.
