KOCZUR, PAUL J. “SONNY” Paul “Sonny” J. Koczur, age 77, of Plainfield passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Colonial Health and Rehab in Plainfield. He was born December 9, 1936 in Torrington to the late Paul and Lillian (Bray) Koczur. As a child, he grew up in Torrington. He also lived many years in Bristol, CT and Dalton, New Hampshire. He was a great machinist. His best friend was his guitar, which was self taught. He loved music, the art of painting, the great outdoors, building custom fishing poles and riding his 1938 Indian motorcycle. He also enjoyed his weekly visit to the casino. He is survived by his daughter Lynn “Tootie” Nadeau and her husband Clayton of Canterbury, a son Tim and his wife Lori of Bristol, his daughter Pamela Vega and her husband Hector also of Bristol, CT, a son Paul Koczur, Jr. and his wife Lynett of Oviedo, Florida. He is also survived by a brother Robert Koczur of New Hampshire, 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He leaves behind his “Special” friend and companion, Barbara Stott of Plainfield. He was predeceased by his former wife and mother of his children, Roberta M. (Clark) Morin and his second wife Marilyn Koczur, also his son John P. Koczur. There are no calling hours. Dougherty Bros. Funeral Home is entrusted with his wishes. Burial will be at a later date. A heartfelt thank you to the Nurses, Drs. and Staff on the third floor of William Backus Hospital, for your dedication and kindness to our father. Also, to the Nurses, Drs. and Staff at the Colonial Health and Rehab, for your compassion and dedication to our father on his last days with us. He also leaves his “daughter” Coco and man’s best friend Sally. In our father’s name, do a good deed for someone today.
