AUDIA, DOMENICK S.“SKITCH” “DOC” Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Golfer. Domenick S. “Skitch” or “Doc” Audia, 88, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of the late Helen (Negroski), who preceded him in death on November 13, 2013. Mr. Audia was born December 26, 1925, in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Michael and Veronica (DeFranz) Audia. He served his Country with the U.S. Navy during both World War II and the Korean War. He was employed by Torin Corp for 40 years and at the time of his retirement was Superintendent of Manufacturing. He was a member of Canaan Country Club, the Torrington Elk’s Lodge #372 and a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Church. Domenick was an avid golfer all of his life, winning numerous championships through the years, including Club Championship at Greenwoods Country Club in 1963, 1964 and 1965, the CT Senior Open in 1988, the Overall Senior Championship in 1998 at Torrington Country Club, as well as being their Senior Club Champion in 2002. He loved playing cards at the Elk’s Club with his friends and looked forward to Florida vacations every year with his wife. Domenick was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved family parties. He is survived by two sons, Steven Audia and wife Melissa, Vincent Audia and wife Deborah, all of Torrington; two daughters, Beverly Kocsis and Diane Audia, both of Torrington; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, John Audia, Salvatore Audia, Frank Audia, Michael Audia, and one sister, Angelina McLaughlin. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014, leaving at 10:00 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield Street, Torrington, to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main Street, Torrington, for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow in St. Francis New Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, April 4, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
