Goshen >> Alan A. Poley, 73, of Sherbrook Drive, died Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Doris N. Poley.
Mr. Poley was born in Torrington on June 13, 1939, son of the late Arthur and Julia (Samplinski) Poley and was a Harwinton resident for over twenty years before moving to Goshen nineteen years ago. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and had been employed by the Seth Thomas Clock Co. in Thomaston for fifteen years before being employed as a System Analyst with the Torrington Co., retiring with nine years of service. Mr. Poley was a lifelong communicant of St. Mary Church, enjoyed hunting, fishing, vegetable gardening and trips to the beach, especially Old Orchard Beach in Maine.
Survivors include a son; Mark A. Poley and his wife, Carolyn, of Torrington, a daughter; Debra P. LeMay and her husband, Jeffrey, of Hebron, two grandchildren; Joshua M. LeMay and Alex W. LeMay, special cousins; Jack Novak, Gloria Novak and her sons, Jay Olmstead, Tracy Olmstead and Rick Olmstead.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Levine and the staff of the Center for Cancer Care as well as caregivers, Amy Jordan, Linda Mazzochi, Clyce Shanahan and Ralph Winston for the wonderful care and compassion shown to Alan during his illness.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 20, 2013, at 9:30a.m., from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect Street, Torrington, to St. Mary Church, 85 Pulaski Street, Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30a.m. Burial will follow in Goshen Center Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, June 19, 2013, from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the funeral home.
