Farmington - Andre' P. D'Andrea, Sr., 80, of Farmington, passed away on January 12th, 2013, after a hard fought war with lung cancer. He died at home, in his own bed with his family by his side. Andy was born January 22, 1932 to the late Paul and Stasia (Mendel) D'Andrea. He was raised in Torrington. After a successful 31-year career with the Department of Transportation, Office of Rights of Way, he retired in 1987. Andy did many different activities including making furniture, oil painting, gardening, golfing; he enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and putting together jigsaw puzzles. His latest and perhaps best activity was driving around town in his 1930 Ford Model A Coupe. Besides his loving wife, Andrea, he is survived by son David and his wife Cindy of Goshen, daughter Holly and her husband Stanley Snecinski of Torrington, son Andre' and his wife Connie of Sandisfield, MA, five grandchildren, Krista D'Andrea Marolda, David D'Andrea Jr., Roger Devaux, Jr., Ryan Devaux and Dawn Devaux Messenger, nine great grandchildren, sister Elaine D'Andrea Opperman, brother Paul V. D'Andrea, and half-brother Thomas Piontkewicz all of Torrington. He was predeceased by sister Virginia D'Andrea Jarmosik Fabbri. A special thank you goes out to the Hospice Program of the Farmington Valley VNA, especially to Nurse Jacqui, and to all the home health care aides who cared for Andy during his illness.
