TORRINGTON >> Andrew Griffin, 42, of Torrington died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 26, 2013. Andrew was born in Washington, DC on Sept. 28, 1970, a son of Stephanie (Katz) and Michael J. Griffin of Torrington.
He was a graduate of New Milford High School and continued his education at Fordham University. Prior to graduation, Andrew served as president of the Student Government in his Senior year. His interests were wide-ranging and varied, including a deep appreciation of music and literature. As a registered voter, he followed politics, locally, nationally, and internationally. In the last years of his life, Andrew struggled with mental illness, which prevented him from reaching the potential he had prior to his illness
In addition to his parents, he leaves a brother Jamie B. Griffin of Portland, Maine. an aunt Marilyn Katz of Bethesda, Maryland, and uncles Jim Griffin and wife Meg of Bloomfield and Gerald Griffin and partner Harry King of Powhaton, Virginia and cousins Matt and Cara Griffin.
Family and friends may gather to say goodbye Tuesday July 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington. A Private Memorial will be held at a later date.
