Angelo "Ange" DeSanti, 88, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 11, 2014. He was the husband of Lucy (Mangione) DeSanti for 66 years. Born in Torrington, CT on July 10, 1926; he was the son of the late Andrew and Grace (Sterling) DeSanti. In 1938 at age 12, he started as a pin-boy at Laurel Lanes, Winsted. He went on to manage and operate the lanes until 1974 when he became owner remaining until his retirement at age 82. He loved duckpin bowling, holds numerous tournament wins, two world records and was inducted into the CT Duckpin Hall of Fame in 1995. In 2003, he was inducted into the National Duckpin Hall of Fame. Ange was a proud Marine Veteran, serving in WWII as a Private First Class Rifleman, participating in action at Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands and occupation of China. He was a loving father to his daughters, the late Patricia Tycienski and Lynette McCarthy; he also leaves son-in-law, Bob McCarthy; grandchildren, Paula (John) Russo and P.J. Tycienski, Darren (Ashley), Kevin and Drew McCarthy; great grandson, Ty Russo; his siblings, Clarence and Raymond DeSanti, Bertha Olszanski, Ruby Rhodes and Clara Haburey; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Russell DeSanti and Mary Starzyk. The family would like to thank his home caregivers, along with the VA Hospital of West Haven for their wonderful love and care.
Friends may call on Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 11 AM – 1 PM with a funeral service at 1 PM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Winsted with full Military Honors.
