TORRINGTON >> Catherine Guerard Fritz, 62, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Hartford Hospital. Born June 1, 1950 in Torrington, Cathy was the beloved daughter of Noel and Shirley (Nanni) Guerard of Torrington and had lived in the Winsted/Torrington area all of her life.
Cathy enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially playing with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed music, shopping, and reading. She was a graduate of The Gilbert School in Winsted and Chamberlain Junior College in Boston. She was a member of the Italian-American Women's Club and was retired after a career that included positions at Winsted Memorial Hospital, Saint Anthony School and Ducci Electric.
In addition to her loving parents, she is survived by her two children, Aaron Fritz and his wife Maureen Regan Fritz of Northhampton, New Hampshire, Erika Fritz Carter of Torrington, two beautiful grandchildren, Paige Carter and Oscar Fritz. She is also survived by aunts and uncle; Emily and Joe Cannavo and Natalie Higgins; a niece and numerous nephews. She will be sorely missed by her cousins; Joanne Cannavo Marzullo, Terrie Cannavo Walker, Marie Cannavo Langill, Joseph A. Cannavo, Lisa Cannavo Venn, Patrick and Michael Higgins, Dr. Sandra and Norman Terry Guerard. She was predeceased by her brother, James (Jimmy) Guerard.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 9:30 a.m. from the Maloney Funeral Home, 55 Walnut Street to St. Joseph Church for the funeral liturgy at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Joseph new Cemetery in the spring. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, 5 to 8 p.m.
