TORRINGTON - Deborah L. Corey, 56, of Funston Ave., Torrington, passed away unexpectedly on June 6, 2012 at Hartford Hospital. Debbe was born in Waterbury, on Feb. 1, 1956, is a daughter of the late Shirley (Carpenter) and Forrest Reeves of Terryville and was a graduate of Terryville High School Class of 1974 and the Bristol Beauty Academy.
Debbe leaves her husband Ed whom she married May 22, 1976 and was a beloved wife for 36 years and 15 days and the loving mother to their sons Jason and Scott Corey.
Besides her husband and sons, she is survived by a sister Gail (Reeves) Harris and her husband Edward and niece Amber and nephew Eddie, all of New Hampshire. She also leaves a special Aunt Patricia (Carpenter) Scaniffe of Naugatuck and cousins Cheryl (Scaniffe) Flanagan and husband Bob of Thomaston, Beth Scaniffe and husband George Schoolfield of Maryland an Uncle Clarence Carpenter and his wife Debbie from Seymore and cousin Eric Carpenter and his wife Shea from Ansonia.
Debbe worked for a number of popular establishments in Torrington such as Rocky's Restaurant , Nu Stars, The Pet Center, Noujaime's Specialty Foods and Tony's Westside Restaurant where she enjoyed meeting the many customers who came in contact with her. Debbe loved gardening, Kermit the Frog, the Beach Boys, Halloween, her beloved mini schnauzers, Disney World and spending time with her family and friends.
Like many parents Debbe volunteered time to many of her son's activities and interests. She was a Past President of Torrington Valley Park Midget Football and had much to do with revitalizing the league during her tenure. She touched the hearts of hundreds of kids, coaches and volunteers. Debbe was the inspiration during the early stages of development to the Vito Colangelo Sports Complex where the league moved and proudly plays its home games.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Celebration of Life to be held immediate following at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave .Torrington Friday June 15. Friends and Family will gather later at Bachi's Restaurant, East Main St., Torrington.
