TORRINGTON >> Dorothy J. (Lorenz) DiChillo, 83, of Torrington, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013. She was the beloved wife of Carmen DiChillo for 63 years. Mrs. DiChillo was born on April 16, 1929, in Torrington, daughter of the late George and Dorothy (Lipe) Lorenz.
A graduate of Torrington High School Class of 1947, she played piano and wrote the class song. She was employed by Charlotte Hungerford Hospital as a Nurse's Aide for 30 years, until her retirement. She and her husband traveled extensively throughout Europe and the United States, however her favorite place was Ogunquit, Maine, where she loved the ocean and visited during the month of September of every year. Always a kind, compassionate, and understanding person, she put others before herself, and took care of many people, including her entire family. Like her daughter, she loved all animals, especially cats. In addition to traveling, she enjoyed the outdoors, especially tending to her flower garden and her rock garden.
In addition to her husband Carmen, she is survived by one daughter, Carolyn McBreen of Torrington; one grandson, Brian McBreen; one great grandson, Devin McBreen, as well as one niece, Jeanne DiChillo and two nephews, Joseph and Richard DiChillo.
The funeral will be held on Friday, Jan. 18, with the cortege leaving at 11 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington to Trinity Episcopal Church, 220 Prospect St., Torrington for services at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Friday morning, Jan. 18 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
