HARTNETT, GEORGE E. George E. Hartnett, 70, of Torrington, CT, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 with his devoted wife Marlene (Grego) Hartnett by his side. George was born December 18, 1942, in Hartford, CT, son of the late Robert and Charlotte (George) Hartnett. He was employed by the Department of Defense as a Supervisor of the Avionics and Electrical Department for the Connecticut Army National Guard and also served as a member of the Connecticut Army National Guard for 36 years, retiring at a rank of E9 Command Sergeant Major. He later was employed as a Marshall with the Litchfield Judicial System for 10 years. In addition to his beloved wife Marlene, he is survived by two sons, Brendan Hartnett and his wife Melissa of Bossier City, LA, Timothy Hartnett of Torrington; step-son, Scott Tibbals and his wife Grace of Pleasant Valley, CT; one brother, William Hartnett of Hartford, CT; four grandchildren, Aidan Hartnett, Shane Hartnett, Jonah Tibbals and Elliana Tibbals, along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 18, 2013, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery with full military honors accorded. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2013, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and also on Monday morning, November 18th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
