New Britain >> Georgette M. (Doucette) Gentile, 86, of New Britain, CT, a friend and family matriarch, entered Heaven's Gates, Tuesday, February 5, 2013, peacefully passing in her sleep at Hartford Hospital surrounded by family.
Georgette was born in New Britain, CT, July 15, 1926, and was the daughter of the late Albert and Emelina (Lavallee) Doucette, She was united in marriage to Anthony Gentile, October 9, 1948 in Connecticut. He preceded her in death April 25, 2006. They were married for fifty-eight blissful years. She worked as a retail clerk for Bradlee's for many years. A caring and dedicated mother, wife, grandmother and homemaker, Georgette was an outstanding cook and loved preparing meals for family and friends. She enjoyed sharing her most cherished memories with family, always giving words of wisdom and great advice. Her favorite pastime was playing cards, casino trips and laughing with close friends; Zita, Jeanette, Lucy, Lee and Delores. She valued life and always had a beautiful smile on her face. Nowt that Georgette is with her Lord and Savior, she will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Georgette is survived by her four loving sons, Anthony Gentile and his wife Charlotte of Clermont, FL., George Gentile of New Britain, Peter Gentile of Philadelphia, PA, John Gentile and his wife Mary of New Hartford, her three devoted grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, and Erika Gentile who brought her so much pride and joy and many nieces, nephews, and her speical Godchild, Donna Lazorik. She will also be greatly missed by her brother-in-law John Lazorik of Bristol, CT and by the Boucher family.
Georgette was predeceased by her three sisters, Rita, Doris, and Irene. Georgette's son, George, lovingly cared for his mother the last seven years of her life. George's brother, John and his wife Mary, also contributed greatly in caring for her. The family gives them their most sincere gratitude and appreciation. "And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast," 1 Peter 5:10.
Funeral rites for Georgette will be held Monday, February 11, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. with the procession departing at 9 a.m. from the Paul A. Shaker/Farmingdale Funeral Home, 764 Farmington Avenue, New Britain, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Jerome Church, 1010 Slater Road, New Britain. Committal service and final resting place will be in St. Mary Cemetery, 1141 Stanley Street, New Britain. Relatives and friends may call at the Paul A. Shaker/Farmigndale Funeral HOme, Sudnay form 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. Directions to funeral home: I-84 East or West - Exit 37 (Fienemann Road) - Right off exit - One mile down on right.
