WINSTED >> Henry A. "Hank" Gendreau, 85, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Hartford Hospital following a short illness. He was the husband of Mary (Mangione) Gendreau. Born in Torrington, May 25, 1927, he was the son of the late Edward L. and Eva (Roy) Gendreau and had lived in this area all of his life.
Prior to his retirement, he had been a Manufacturing Engineer for 37 years, he then worked for Winsted Memorial Hospital until it closed. He was an Army Veteran of WW II having served in the 1st Infantry Division, was a graduate of the Torrington High School and the Porter School of Engineering.
In addition to his wife of 64 years, he is survived by two children, Edward C. Gendreau and Geralyn G. Kittredge and her husband Gary all of Torrington; a brother, Roy Gendreau and his wife Helen of Farmington; a sister Elizabeth Jones of West Hartford; two grandchildren, Shawnna Leigh Kittredge, Brandt Gendreau Kittredge and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Irene Sullivan of Winsted.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 11:30 a.m. from the Maloney Funeral Home, 55 Walnut Street, to St. Joseph Church for the funeral liturgy at noon. Burial will follow with full military honors in St. Joseph new Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home that morning from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
