TORRINGTON >> Mary (Fainelli) Cianciolo, 95, a longtime resident of Torrington, widow of Dr. Lawrence Cianciolo, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013. Born in Torrington, Aug. 13, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Speranza Fainelli.
One of Mary`s greatest gifts was being a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She took great joy in preparing many of her delicious Italian dinners and baking for her family. An avid gardener, she found peace in her plants and flowers. She took pleasure in knitting and crocheting beautiful sweaters and afghans for her two adoring granddaughters. Mary enjoyed playing golf with friends at the Torrington Country Club where she and her husband were members for many years.
She is survived by her son Vincent and his wife, Marcia of Harwinton, her daughter-in-law Mary (Dranginis) Cianciolo of Torrington, her granddaughters Melissa Cianciolo of New York and Molly Paghense of Harwinton, a great-granddaughter Olivia Paghense and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Lawrence J. Cianciolo, her sisters Edith Ossola, Josephine Fainelli, Lydia DeLutrie and her brother Santo Fainelli.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful care given her by the aides and staff at Brandywine Assisted Living during her ten year stay.
A Memorial Mass and burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington.
