Michael (Mickey) Mannion, 76, of Torrington, passed away peacefully Friday, Jan. 11, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital.
He was the beloved husband of Joyce (Werqueyah) Mannion.
Michael was born in Torrington, on May 16, 1936, a son of the late Florence (Favre) and John Mannion
He served in the U.S. Army for 7 years in Korea, Okinawa, and Germany.
He was an avid card player, musician, Civil War buff, and a member of The Sullivan Senior Center. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and a great help to anyone who needed him.
In addition to his wife, he leaves three children, sons Michael Mannion and wife Ida of N. Chelmsford Mssachusetts; Danny Mannion and wife Billie of Grove Oklahoma; and a daughter, Colleen Roller and husband Heinz of Torrington; and four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by two sisters, Judy Schleiger, of Henderson, Colorado, and Mary Mannion, of Torrington.
He was predeceased by brothers, Jack, Ned, Joe, and Jim.
A Memorial Gathering will be held Monday, Jan. 14, from 10 a.m. to Noon at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Veterans Service Office, 150 Main St .,Torrington, CT 06790.
