AVON >> Thomas M. Olson, 69, of Avon, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Tom was born on Jan. 2, 1944, in Hartford, the son of the late Lena (Mazzucchi) and Paul Olson, Sr.
He served his country with the U.S. Army. Self-employed, Tom was a talented carpenter who loved helping family and friends. He was fiercely independent and had a soft spot for animals. He was a man of few words, yet enjoyed talking about politics when the subject arose.
He is survived by his two children, son Kurt Olson of Norfolk and daughter Tara Sundie and her husband Bryan of Winsted; three grandchildren, Tyler and Brett Olson of Norfolk, and Clara Sundie of Winsted; a brother, Paul Olson, Jr. and his wife Nancy of New Hartford; two nephews, David Olson of Avon, his son Colby, and James Olson and his wife Ann of New Hartford, and their children Justin and Kristen, as well as many good friends.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington, with a Memorial Service commencing at 5 p.m.
