BARBER, ANTHONY S. “TWEET” Winsted: Anthony S. “Tweet” Barber, 92, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014 at Torrington Health & Rehab Center in Torrington, following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Linda Marie (Tryndota) Barber. Born in Winsted, August 25, 1921, he was the son of the late James H. Barber, Sr. and the late Josephine (Filli) Te. He had lived in Winsted most of his life. Prior to his retirement, he had been an Assessor for various towns in Connecticut, most recently in North Canaan. Tweet was an Army Air Corps Veteran of WW II, was a member of the KofC, VFW, American Legion, Elks, Green Woods Country Club and various Assessors Associations. In addition to his wife of 35 years, he is survived by two brothers, James H. Barber, Jr. of Winsted and Joseph S. Te of Torrington; a sister, Frances Pescatore of Torrington; two loving cousins, Anthony Aquilino and Mitzi Aquilino Cappello who were like a brother and a sister to him. In addition, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by three sisters, Lucy Americh, Carmela Mitchell, Catherine Barber and a brother, Joseph Barber. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 10:30 AM from the Maloney Funeral Home 55 Walnut Street, to St. Joseph Church for the funeral liturgy at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in St. Joseph new Cemetery in the spring with full military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, 6-8 PM.
