PFEFFER, JOYCE Joyce Pfeffer, 86, of Harwinton, CT passed away Sunday, February 16th, at Rose Haven in Litchfield. She was the wife of the late Walter F. Pfeffer. Joyce was born in Torrington, CT on April 11, 1927, a daughter of the late Elsie (Gaab) and Robert Abetz. She touched hundreds of lives while working as a Teaching Assistant at Harwinton Consolidated School for 22 years. During WWII, she worked for the Army Signal Corp in Washington, DC. More importantly, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will always be remembered for her generosity, thoughtfulness, and love. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved to celebrate special moments no matter how big or small. Joyce made everyone feel special and loved. She was a lifetime member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church. Joyce is survived by her son Mark Pfeffer and his wife Karen of Northfield and their children Meghann Tucker and husband Jason and Mark Pfeffer; three daughters Cynthia Stevens and husband Charles Stevens, Jr. of Harwinton and their children Cheryl Hedrick and husband Nathan and Catherine McIntire and husband Jamin; Joy Bollard and husband Gregory of Bridgewater and their children Robert, Jenna, and Ryan; and Cathy Pfeffer of Harwinton and her son Tyler Schroeder; great- grandchildren Riley Tucker and Chase and Andrew Hedrick. She also leaves a niece, Roberta O’Meara and was predeceased by a sister June Wesley. Funeral Services will be held at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, Torrington, at 11 AM on Thursday, February 20th, with burial following at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Avenue, Torrington.
