CALDWELL, JOHN C. John C. Caldwell, 92, of Torrington, CT, passed away Monday, April 7, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. He was the husband of the late Alice (Sylvia) Caldwell. John was born in Readville, MA on June 2, 1921, a son of the late Frances (Downs) and Augustus Caldwell, and was a graduate of Boston College. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in WW II. He had been a manager at W.T. Grants in Torrington and later operated Torringford Package Store for 40 years. An avid Red Sox fan, he was an usher at Fenway Park for several years, and he enjoyed golfing. He is survived by sons John A. Caldwell and wife Sandy of Barkhamsted, Brian Caldwell and wife Nancy of Torrington and Kevin F. Caldwell of Norwalk; daughters Carol Kingsbury and husband Tim of Stratford, Catherine Westrom of Marlton, NJ, Patricia Potter and husband James of Torrington, Christine Murphy and husband Thomas of Ellington, and Susan Eberhardt and husband Joseph of Altoona, PA; and 14 grandchildren. He also leaves a sister, Rita Donnelley of Los Altos CA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Francis Church, Torrington, CT, at 10:30 on Saturday, April 12. Burial will be at the convenience of the family at Fairview Cemetery in Boston MA. Friends may call Saturday 9–10 a.m. at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave, Torrington.
