MORTON, MARY V. (LAMPOGNANA) Mrs. Mary V. (Lampognana) Morton, 88, of Winsted, CT, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2014, in Quincy Village. Born March 28, 1926 in Winsted, she was the daughter of the late John and Salavtrice Lampognana. She was a lifelong resident of the Winsted area. She and her husband, the late Mr. Edward J. Morton, were married October 30, 1948. Mr. Morton passed away July 3, 2005. Mrs. Morton was employed as a cook for the school district in Winsted, and was later a clerk at First National, later Finest Grocery Store, all of Winsted. She was a very active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella’s, both of Winsted. She also volunteered at Winsted Hospital. Mrs. Morton enjoyed cooking, baking, knitting and taking walks. She is survived by two children, Virginia L. “Ginny” Shockey and her husband, Terry of Waynesboro, PA and Edward J. Morton and his wife, Barbara of Winsted; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Anna Parsons of Florida; one brother, Thomas Lampognana of Winsted; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Antoinette Fredsall; and one brother, Angelo Lampanaro. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church in Winsted. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
