MANION, MATILDA K. TORRINGTON- Matilda K. Manion, 100, formerly of Tarlton St. died Friday, June 13, 2014 in Pensacola, Florida. She was the beloved wife of the late George E. Manion. Mrs. Manion was born in Torrington on August 18, 1913, daughter of the late Julius and Emily (Litfin) Kiesel and was a lifelong resident. She was a retired district office secretary with the Torrington Company, retiring with 26 years of service. Mrs. Manion was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, was an avid reader, and loved gardening. Survivors include two sons, Robert Manion of Torrington and Thomas Manion and his wife Sherie of Pensacola, FL; four grandchildren, Lynn Alfieri and her husband Steve, Robert Manion, Jr., David Manion and his wife Shelley, all of Torrington, and Richard Manion of Encino, CA; two great grandchildren: Amber and Emily Alfieri; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Amelia Kiesel and Julia Foth and two brothers, Julius and Norman Kiesel. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at the Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Thursday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
