KITTLE, ELMER PAUL Elmer Paul Kittle, 78, of Torrington, CT passed away Friday, August 8th, 2014. Elmer was born in Hudson, NY on July 5, 1936, a son of the late Gladys (Rice) and Edward Kittle and grew up in Winsted, moving to Torrington as an adult. He served honorably in the U.S. Army in the Korean War from 1953-1961 assigned to Company G 187th Airborne Infantry. He has served for several years as a member of the Veteran Service Honor Guard at funerals of veterans. He worked as an operating engineer at Waters Construction for 33 years and was a long time member of Local Union 478. He served for a number of years as Business Manager for the United Brothers Club, an organization dedicated to improving relations between white and black residents of Torrington. He is survived by sons, Glenn and wife Teresa, Alan and wife Tina, Billie, Ronnie, and Jason and daughters, Jean Cannon and husband Douglas, Doreen Davis and husband Quincy, Corrine Frost and her wife Eileen, Tracey, Jaime, and Kimberly. He also leaves 28 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He also leaves a twin brother, Edward and was predeceased by a brother ,Billy. Funeral Services will be held at Phalen Funeral Home 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington, CT, at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 15th, with Military Honors. Burial following at Forest View Cemetery in Winsted. Friends may call Thursday 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
