TORRINGTON - Lucille M. Lascko, 87, of Torrington passed away Friday, March 25, 2011 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on Oct. 4, 1923, daughter of the late Ernest and Mary Portais. She relocated to Torrington and met her late husband, Albert Lascko.
Retired from the Torrington School System, she was an active member of Saint Francis Church and a member of The Torrington Council of Catholic Women. She also volunteered at various area nursing homes. A die hard UCONN fan of both boys and girls, she never missed a game.
She leaves her children, Kathryn M. Lascko-Byram and husband Leonard F. Byram and Robert J. Lascko and wife Cindy. She also leaves grandchildren Taylor Simon and husband Michael of Harwinton, Kate Paganini and husband Monsy of Torrington, and Jennifer, Rebecca and Alexander Lascko of Manchester. She also leaves a sister, Rita Lach of Torrington and brother Alexander Portais in Massachusetts; special and devoted niece Mary Beth Lach, her niece Andrea Benedict, who was her daily source of joy and inspiration, and loving nephew Len Dube. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Meredith K. Levine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at Saint Francis Church, Torrington, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, with burial following at New Saint Francis Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave Torrington.
