BARKHAMSTED - Paul "Nob" E. Slater, Sr., passed away suddenly on Monday, April 9, 2012. He was the loving husband of Betty (Zimmerman) Slater for 46 years. Born Nov. 17, 1946 in Roxbury, New York; the son of the late Stanley Slater Sr., and Marion (Post) Slater.

Knob owned and operated Slater Auto with his brothers for many years. He enjoyed golfing and salmon fishing. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He had a real love for life and will be missed by all.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Paul Slater Jr., and wife Karin of Barkhamsted; a daughter, Melissa Ortman and husband Edward of Winsted; five brothers, Stanley "Joe" Slater Jr., and wife Juanita of Barkhamsted, Robert "Himer" Slater Sr., and wife Bonnie of New Hartford, Everett "Jake" Slater and wife Darlene of Barkhamsted, Ellsworth "Unk" Slater and wife Pam of New York and Clifford "Skip" Slater and wife Geanie; two sisters, Gladys "Sook" Buel and husband Galen of Winsted and Arlene "Misery" Wilkens and husband Ronnie of Florida; Poppy's brats, Olivia, Emilie and Lorin; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, James "Toad" Slater Sr., and a sister, Barbara "Punch" Murphy.
