TORRINGTON >> Joyce Fritz, 76, of Torrington, died Wednesday, Nov. 28, at Bristol Hospital. She was the wife of the late Richard E Fritz. Joyce was born in Torrington on Jan. 16, 1936, a daughter of the late Viola (Fritts) and Edward Dreger, Sr.
She was a member of Trinity Church. She worked as a bookkeeper at Gates Cleaners and also had worked at Timex Corp and The Torrington Company. She was a volunteer at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and The Warner Theater and was active with Torrington Democratic Party and The Sullivan Senior Center. She also loved to travel.
Joyce is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Fritz of Torrington and three sons Philip Fritz and his wife Sharon of Jacksonville Florida, Rick Fritz and his wife Lisa of Amherst, New Hampshire and Ed Fritz and his wife Valerie of Monticello, Georgia, grandchildren Curtis Shelldorf, Kelly Ridley, Camden and Nathan Fritz, and Tyler, Taylor, and Savannah Fritz and great-grandchildren Luke and Reagan Ridley and Brittany Shelldorf. She also leaves a brother Edward "Ted" Dreger and his wife Barbara of Torrington.
Funeral services will be held Monday Dec. 3 at 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Torrington. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday 4 to 6 p.m. at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington.
