TORRINGTON >> Aniela Skrzypiec, 83, of Torrington, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb. 1, at her home surrounded by her loving family and her beloved Polish books. She was the wife of the late Stanley Skrzypiec. Aniela was born in Poland on Feb. 2, 1929 and survived the Second World War in which she was wounded. She came to Torrington on Dec. 11, 1966.

She worked at Fitzgerald Mfg Co. and Torin-Nidec Corp. She was a communicant of Saint Mary's Church and past president and active member of both the Polish Veteran's Women's Auxiliary and Polish National Alliance. She had a green thumb and had immaculate vegetable and flowers gardens and shared the fruits of her labor with others.
She leaves a son, Eugene Purcha and his wife Janina and loving grandchildren Tom and Angelica. She also leaves a sister, Katherine Poniatowski, niece Janina Szymanski, nephew Andrzej Lichacz, several other nieces and nephews and stepdaughter Shirley Bournique of Florida. She was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Mary's Church, Torrington, at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, with burial following at the new Saint Francis Cemetery. Friends are invited to call on Thursday 6 to 8 p.m. at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington.
