Torrington >> Joseph Colucci, age 90, died March 1, 2013, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph was born in Torrington on March 9, 1922, to the late Ludovico and Filomena Bisciotte Colucci. Over the years he was employed by the Anaconda Brass Company and the Torrington Company Wire Mill. Joseph was a master swimmer and could be seen regularly at Mount Tom State Park. He was admired for his beautiful flower gardens and abundant vegetable gardens. Joseph was also a skilled carpenter and in his later years began crafting a miniature village out of wood. The stories he told of his childhood always amused and entertained his children and grandchildren.
Joseph is survived by his wife Marion Simoncelli Colucci, his daughter Laura Colucci of Litchfield and son Louis R. Colucci and wife Lisa of Torrington. He is survived by his grandson Christopher Zaharek of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, his granddaughter Beth Zaharek of Litchfield, his grandson Louis J. Colucci and his wife Sara of Torrington, and granddaughter Angela Colucci of Torrington. He is also survived by his six great-grandchildren Jordan, Hannah, Aaron, Sage, Aidan and Noah.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, with the cortege leaving at 10:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will be held in the spring. Calling hours will be held on Monday, March 4, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cook Funeral Home.
