Douglas Virgilio, 69, of Colebrook, CT passed away Monday, March 18, at home. He was the beloved husband of Sylvia J. (Drain) Virgilio. Douglas was born in New York City, New York on Aug. 3, 1943, son of the late Evie and Albert Virgilio. Doug was employed by the Torrington Company for 34 years. He started as a manufacturing engineer and later became the engineering supervisor for the Needle Division. Doug held several managerial positions at Torrington Co. including engineering supervisor for both the Precision Components Division and Fafnir Bearings Division prior to becoming manufacturing operations manager for Fafnir. He retired from the Torrington Company in 1999.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a sister Noreen Virgilio Wright and her significant other Buz Hinchleff of Frederick, Maryland, sister- in-law Diane Phylis Casagni and her significant other Robert Moss of Titusville, Florida, nieces Michelle Casagni of Lutz, Florida, Tammi Casagni of Costa Rica, and Heather Wright of Edgewater, Maryland. He also leaves nephews Michael Casagni of Norton, Massachusetts, John Casagni of St. Petersburg, Florida, Todd Casagni of Dade City, Florida, and Brian Wright of Stamford, and three great-nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at the Chapel at Hillside Cemetery, 76 Walnut St., Torrington, CT at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, March 22. Family and friends may call prior to the service from 9 to 11 a.m. at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington. www.phalenfuneral.com.
