TORRINGTON >> Marion Janet (Mary Jane) Galgano, 87, of Torrington, passed away Saturday, April 13, at Wolcott Hall. She was the wife of the late Carl V. Galgano. Marion was born in Bronx, New York on Sept. 13, 1925, a daughter of the late Mary (Krisak) and Milton Wells.

She worked as a telephone operator at SNET. She was a member of 29 years and past secretary and president of The Drakeville Vol. Fire Dept Auxiliary, as well as a member of Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Auxiliary. She also belonged to The Sullivan and Harwinton Senior Centers. She was a volunteer for FISH for many years.
She is survived by her son Dr. Richard Galgano and wife Gayle Larson of Newton, Massachusetts, and daughters Nancy Wurden and husband Dr. Glen Wurden, of Los Alamos, New Mexico, and Kathleen Galgano and husband Thomas Anderson of San Jose, California, grandchildren Alexander and Caroline Wurden, and Katherine Higgins and husband Craigen, Laura Kate Bender and husband Al, and Phillip Michael Anderson, and Benjamin and Charlotte Galgano and one great-granddaughter, Tegan Wurden. She also leaves her sister Beatrice Roberts. A son, Carl V. Galgano II, predeceased her in 2011. She was also predeceased by brothers Gordon and Robert Wells and daughter-in-law Janis Galgano.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Peter Church, Torrington, at noon on Saturday, April 20. Friends may call Saturday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Phalen Funeral Home, 285 Migeon Ave., Torrington.
